Privacy policy
Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains, plainly, what information the Talmudo BeYado site collects, what it is used for and what your rights are — in accordance with the Israeli Privacy Protection Law, 5741-1981, and its regulations.
What we collect
- Order form: name, phone, email, shipping address, the model and quantity ordered, and any note you chose to add.
- Contact form: name, email and the message itself.
- Institutional purchasing form: name, phone, email and the institution's name.
- The Talmudo BeYado app (on the device or on a phone): an anonymous device identifier (a one-way hash of the device's id — no name, phone or account), the app version, the device model and the Android version — sent on every update check and on license registration.
- After an in-app purchase through Google Play: a name and a phone number — if you choose to give them on the screen shown right after the purchase.
- Notes you ask to send to your e-mail: the address you typed on the device and the notes files — only when you ask to send them, and only to send them to you.
- Basic server logs: IP address and access times, needed to secure and operate the site.
What we never collect
Credit card details never pass through this site and are never stored on it. Payment takes place on the clearing company's secure page, and only the clearing company handles the card details.
What the information is used for
The information is used solely to handle your order — delivery, invoice and service — and to answer your inquiries. We send no marketing mail without explicit consent, and we do not sell or hand information to third parties, except what the transaction itself requires: the clearing company for the payment, the courier for the delivery (name, phone and address only), and parties to whom disclosure is required by law.
Cookies
The site uses essential cookies — for example, keeping an administrator signed in. In addition, while paid advertising is running, the site loads the Meta and Google measurement tags, which may write measurement cookies. Details in the next section.
Traffic measurement
To learn which pages interest our visitors we measure traffic with Umami — a statistics system installed on our own server and operated by us alone. It writes no cookies, creates no persistent visitor identifier, and passes no data to any third party. What it collects is aggregate and does not identify you personally: the page viewed, the page or search engine you arrived from, device type, browser and country.
On the order-confirmation pages the measurement uses a cleaned address — the private token in your confirmation link is never sent to the measurement system. On the management and sign-in screens there is no measurement at all.
If you reach the site through paid advertising, the entry address may carry campaign parameters (utm_source and the like), and those are recorded in our measurement system together with the page viewed.
The Meta pixel (Facebook and Instagram). To learn which ads bring customers, the site loads Meta's measurement pixel. Unlike Umami this is a transfer of data to a third party: the pixel reports the page viewed and actions taken to Meta, may write cookies, and if you are signed in to a Meta account it may link the visit to that account. Meta processes the data under its own privacy policy. The pixel is not loaded at all on the order-confirmation and payment pages, in the management screens or on the sign-in screens. You can block it in your browser settings or with a tracker-blocking extension, and blocking it does not affect your use of the site.
The Google Ads tag. To learn which Google ads bring customers, the site loads Google's measurement tag. This too is a transfer of data to a third party: the tag reports to Google the page viewed, a click on the WhatsApp button and a submitted order, may write cookies, and if you are signed in to a Google account it may link the visit to that account. Google processes the data under its own privacy policy. The tag is not loaded at all on the order-confirmation and payment pages, in the management screens or on the sign-in screens. You can block it in your browser settings or with a tracker-blocking extension, and blocking it does not affect your use of the site.
Device identifier and library license
The app sends our server an anonymous device identifier on every update check and on license registration. It is used to tie the library license to a single device, to deliver updates and for support — and it is not linked to a name or phone number unless you gave us those yourself (when buying a device, when contacting support, or on the contact-details screen after a Google Play purchase).
In-app purchase (Google Play). Google processes the payment under the Google Play terms and its own privacy policy; your payment details never reach us. We store the purchase token, the Google Play order number and the device identifier — to bind the license to the device, to verify the purchase with Google and to handle cancellations and refunds.
Name and phone after a Google Play purchase. Google does not tell us who bought, so right after an in-app purchase we ask for a name and a phone number — so that we know who our customers are: to recognise your purchase when you contact us, and to give support and service by phone. Giving them is optional: you can tap "Not now" (לא עכשיו), and the full library opens either way. The name and phone are kept with us together with the device identifier and the license, are not passed to any third party and are not used for marketing mail. You can ask us to correct or delete them at any time, as described under "Your rights".
Sending notes to e-mail. On a Talmudo BeYado device you can ask to send your notes to yourself. Only then, and only at your request, the device sends our server the notes files (a PDF to read and a backup file) and the address you typed. The server sends them to that address and immediately deletes the copy left in our mailbox. The notes are not kept by us and are not read by us. The device's log records only the time of sending and a shortened address (for example e…@gmail.com), for support.
Security
The site is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS) only. Information is kept in a database with restricted, secured access, and personal details are not written to system logs.
How long the information is kept
Order details are kept as long as they are needed for the order, the warranty and legal obligations — such as bookkeeping records. Contact-form inquiries are kept as long as they are needed to handle the inquiry. Device and license records are kept for as long as the license is valid and for support and warranty purposes.
Your rights
Under the Privacy Protection Law you may review the information we hold about you and ask that it be corrected or deleted. Reach us through any channel below and we will handle the request promptly — usually within two business days.
